Living in Yolo County is a wonderful experience. Each town and area is unique. You can enjoy small town charm while being just two hours from San Francisco, the ocean or Lake Tahoe.
Davis has the University of California where the main mode of transportation is by bicycle. AMTRAK stops in Davis and you see students traveling back and forth between Davis and Berkeley on the train. The Varsity Theatre just reopened after an extensive remodel and will be a source of entertainment for the community along with the Davis Musical Theatre.
Woodland sits among farmland and is the County seat. The Heidrick Ag History Center is in Woodland. It has one of the largest displays of old trucks and tractors in the state. Each September on the Saturday following Labor Day the "Stroll through History" takes place. Walking tours are given through the many different areas of town and you have the opportunity to see inside some of the most fabulous Victorian homes.
Winters is at the base of the foothills and is the gateway to Lake Berryessa where you can enjoy boating and fishing. The Palms Theatre is located in Winters and brings many musical acts to the community.
Esparto is the start of the beautiful Capay Valley. The Almond Festival is held in February and if Mother Nature co-operates the almond trees are a sea of white blossoms. The drive through the valley in springtime is truly beautiful. The last few years new homes have been built giving families the opportunity to enjoy a peaceful life in a small town.
Knights Landing is on the banks of the Sacramento River. When the fishing is good the size of the community increases as the fishermen arrive in their RVs.
