The Yolo County Association of REALTORS® is made up of REALTOR® members and Affiliate members. The members are dedicated to their communities and have given many hours of their time to make the communities a better place to live. REALTORS® and Affiliates can be seen serving many different organizations - Meals on Wheels, Red Cross, Rotary, Lions Club and Woodland Parks and Recreation Committee to name a few.
The major fundraiser for the association is CanTree. Money is collected throughout the year and given to the Ecumenical Ministries. The amount of money donated for the past two years has exceeded $12,000. The Ecumenical Ministries uses the money to help fill the Holiday food baskets given to needy families at Christmas. Donations have also been given to Meals on Wheels, Adult Day Care and the Women's Shelter.
In Davis the members hold a food drive collecting tons of canned food that is then given to the Food Closet. They also support STEAC by adopting families at Christmas Time.
Scholarships are given each year to graduating high school seniors. In 2007 YCAR gave out $15,000 dollars in scholarships to Yolo County High Schools. We form two committees, one from the Woodland Division and one from the Davis Division. Each committee meets and makes a decision on who they feel is qualified to receive a scholarship. If needed the students are asked to come in for an interview. Once the decision is made each student must show proof of full time enrollment at the college they have choosen. This year scholarships were presented at Esparto High School, Davis High School, Pioneer High School, Winters High School and Woodland High School.
